Obituary

Betsy Powell Laughner, 68, of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Warren, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on June 30, 2024 at the Cates Hospice House, Ocala, Florida after a brief illness.

Betsy was born on September 25, 1955 in Warren, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Henry L. Powell and Rebecca Powell Swanson. She graduated from Warren Area High School in 1973.

She married the love of her life, Jim Laughner, on October 13, 1973 – she and Jim celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last fall.

She worked for Blair Corporation for many years. After her retirement, she and Jim settled into their RV and enjoyed traveling. They fell in love with the Ocala, Florida area and made that their home in 2009.

Betsy enjoyed line dancing, reading, cooking and baking. She loved playing cards with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her precious son, Brad Laughner.

Surviving are her husband, Jim Laughner of Ocala, Florida; daughter, Jodi DiPenti and her partner Tracy Savage of Chesapeake, Virginia; granddaughter, Jessica (Josh) Croyle and Jimmy DiPenti; and three great grandchildren, Xander, Caroline and Hayden Croyle. Also surviving is her sister, Sharon (Gary) Swanson; and four nephews, Jason Young, Jeremy Young, Zachary (Ashley) Swanson and Joseph (Vanessa) Swanson.

The Baldwin Brothers has been entrusted with her final arrangements.

The Family will hold a Private Memorial Service.
