Obituary

Carol Ann Nocito Dietrich of Bartow, Florida passed away on 12/30/2024.  She had been a resident of the Life Care Center of Winter Haven following a series of strokes and the onset of dementia. Carol was born in Herkimer, New York on 04/18/1947 to the late Anthony T & Mary R (DiMatteo) Nocito.  She was a long-time resident of Mayfield, New York until she retired and moved to Florida in 2003.

Carol was Valedictorian of the class of 1965 of the former Bishop Burke Central School, Gloversville, New York.  She was a graduate of the class of 1969 College of Saint Rose, Albany, New York with a BS in elementary education and a Masters of Science in Education. She was an elementary school teacher at St Henry’s School in Averill Park, New York, St. Mary’s School in Gloversville, New York, and then at Jansen Ave and Pleasant Ave Schools in Johnstown, New York until her retirement in 2003.

Carol married Lewis Conrod in Florida on May 15, 2022. He survives her. Carol is also survived by her son, David Johnson, of Bend, Oregon, her step-son, James Johnson and step-grandson Matthew of Mayfield, New York; Her siblings, Edward (Debora) Nocito, James Nocito, both of Florida and Joanne (Michael) Gifford of Johnstown, New York. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins across the country.

Carol was pre-deceased by husband James Johnson who died on 12/29/1993, and her sister-in-law, Kathryn Nocito.

The family wishes to thank Life Care Center of Winter Haven for their compassion and quality care.

Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Spring. Carol enjoyed her retirement years in Florida, and enjoyed visiting with family and friends, attending car shows and taking trips back to New York state.  Remember Carol for her fun-loving nature and her efforts to always make someone smile.

    Joann, Eddie, Jimmy and Family,

    I am so sorry to hear of Carol’s passing. I have so many wonderful memories of our holidays with family on Dewey Ave. I’m sure Patty, Aunt Cora, Aunt Roe and the rest of those loved ones we have lost over the years have welcomed Carol with open arms. Until we meet again, RIP Carol

    I was so sorry to see the news of Carol's passing. She was a sweet person. Fond memories of her, being neighbors for one, she even helped me pass Algebra one summer. You are in our thoughts and prayers from the Burchell family.

    Thinking of all the get together’s with the DiMatteo side of the family in Herkimer and Johnstown including our infamous cousin dinners when Carol was in New York visiting. So many good memories! Rest in peace Carol we will miss you.
