Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles “Chuck” Basler, a beloved husband, father, Papa, brother, and friend, who left us after a sudden illness on August 28, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on April 23, 1966, in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, Chuck was a vibrant soul whose life was filled with love, laughter, and a deep dedication to family and friends.
Chuck was the cherished son of Keith and Patricia Basler, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his late wife Debbie Basler. He is survived by his loving wife, Kristin Basler, who stood by his side through many of life’s ups and downs. Together, they joined their beautiful families as one which includes their five children: Brooke (Sean) Gibbons, Bradley (Megan) Basler, Danielle (David) Boyd, Kaylie (Trevor) Thompson and Emma LaJeunesse. Chuck took immense pride in being a grandfather to his five grandchildren: Kylee and Natalie Gibbons, Lucas and Elena Boyd, and Camille Thompson, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He was especially excited to meet his new grandbabies who are making their debut in early 2026.
In addition to his immediate family, Chuck is survived by his brother, Mike Basler, sister, Mary Jo Duncan, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss his infectious spirit and loving presence.
Professionally, Chuck dedicated 35 years of his life as a Crane Operator at Whiteys Crane Rental, where he was respected and admired by colleagues. Following his retirement, he spent three years as a driver for Smash My Trash, always bringing his positive energy to his work. His commitment to his jobs reflected his strong work ethic and desire to support his family.
Chuck’s life was a testament to the importance of relationships, both familial and friendship. Family was everything to him, and his love for them was evident in all that he did. He was known as the “mayor of everywhere,” a title earned through his warm, engaging nature. He had a unique ability to connect with everyone he met, always wearing a smile and ready to lend a helping hand. Chuck’s strong family ties were matched only by his passion for bringing people together, whether it was through grilling delicious meals or cheering on the Green Bay Packers during football season. Chuck was an avid animal lover and always made sure to share his toast at breakfast with his pets Salty, Josie and Ruby.
His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him. Friends and family are invited to his Celebration of Life which will be held this fall in both in Florida and Illinois.
As we say goodbye to Chuck, we remember him not just for his accomplishments but for the joy and love he brought into our lives. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his spirit will continue to shine brightly in our memories and in the stories shared among family and friends. Rest in peace, dear Chuck. You will forever remain in our hearts.
He was a very special cousin.
