Obituary

Christopher S. Winfield, 61, of Punta Gorda, passed away peacefully at home, on January 3, 2025 while surrounded by his loved ones, after a courageous battle with Multiple Symptoms Atrophy.

Chris was born on April 12, 1963 to Fred and Cynthia Winfield in Tom’s River, NJ. After graduating from Cape Coral High School in 1982, he went on to serve his Country by joining the United States Marine Corps. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, his wife, Emma Winfield. Together, they moved to Anaheim, California while he was stationed in El Toro serving in the USMC.  After being honorably discharged from the USMC, Chris moved back to Florida and started a family while obtaining a nursing degree.

Chris and Emma were incredibly blessed to have 3 children, Adam C., Alexander S., and Alaina E..

In the spirit of continuing his passion of service, Chris worked as a Registered Nurse in the emergency room. Outside of work, Chris enjoyed running, gardening, hiking, skiing, and spending time with his family. One of the things Chris was most proud of in this life were his children and grandchildren, Penelope, Parker, Beaux, Piper, Colette and Amelia.

Chris was preceded in death by his Brother and Father. He is survived by his wife, Emma, his three children, Adam (wife, Sheila), Alexander (wife, Jaime), Alaina (husband, Doug), his Mother, Sister, and Grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Sarasota National Memorial on February 10th at 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Chris’s honor.

    Emma & Kids,
I am so sorry for your loss. I know nothing I can say will help you feel better so know I'm praying for your comfort & strength . Chris had a way about him that people knew he cared. He was a great neighbor...ill never forget him helping me get the snake outta the kitchen when we first moved in! He is gone in body... but you'll feel his spirit for sure!

I have very fond memories of working with Chris in the ER as well as our short stent as case managers. He cared for his family deeply and he will be missed tremendously. Thoughts and prayers to you all during this difficult time.

  26. Carrie Mynhier says:

My brother was the silliest of all of us when we were kids. His jokes and laughter always lit up the room. He is with our father and our brother, Doug, now. They are all laughing and smiling, waiting for the rest of us to join them. Love you, Chris.

Chris was a wonderful friend and colleague. He was always fun to be around and I don’t think I ever saw him with a frown on his face. He will be deeply missed.

As I think back to my time working in the emergency room, I remember Chris as an old friend, even though I hadn't known him long. Even as he faced very long days, he would have a smile to share, and continued to take good care of his patients and their families. You will be missed my friend.

  32. Natalie Iverson says:

I will miss all the posts he made. Chris was a great friend and colleague that worked with me at the ER. He is with Jesus and has been made completely whole.
My prayers go out to you all!! May His Peace surround you in this time.
