Obituary
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Darlene Ruth Roberts Murphy, 73, of Venice, Florida, on October 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with dementia.
The Cincinnati native was born June 20,1952 to the late Harry and Ruth Roberts.
Darlene was a graduate of Withrow High School Class of 1970 where she was a majorette. She continued her education and received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University of Cincinnati. If you asked her what her favorite achievement was in her remarkable career, first she would share her summer seasons at Coney Island Amusement Park, and then she would tell you her most meaningful accomplishment was being a mother.
Darlene’s absence will be deeply felt. When you arrived at the Murphy home, you knew what it felt like to be loved. She was always the first to greet you with that bright smile and the last to wave goodbye from the driveway – making sure you felt her love all the way home. Darlene had a way of making everyone feel special. Her legacy of love lives on in every heart she touched, especially through her children, brother, cousins, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and the countless friends who became family.
A private burial service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, honor Darlene’s spirit by volunteering your time and extending kindness to a charity or cause that is meaningful to you.
The family would like to thank the incredible neighbors and friends who surrounded her this past year. Your support had been a source of comfort after the tremendous heartbreak of Murph’s passing from their love and unshakable bond.

You shaped me, guided me, supported me, you made me.
I feel so privileged to be your daughter, being able to care for you was my highest Honor.
You made sure we had a home filled with love.
I praise God for every minute we shared laughing, crying and dreaming together.
Unforgettable memories.
Rest in Eternal Peace Mom.
I love you more.
