Obituary

David Kluczynski of The Villages, Florida (born and raised in Toledo, OH) passed away on April 30, 2025 in the Emergency Room from a surgical complication of his recent knee replacement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Evelyn H Kluczynski (Toledo, OH), and his brother, Robert Kay (Palm Springs, CA).

He is survived by his wife, Lynn of almost 39 years, and their 2 sons, Michael David Kluczynski (Chloe) and Alan Robert Kluczynski (Jacqueline). Also surviving are his brothers Lawrence (Cindy) Kluczynski, Philip Kluczynski, and nieces and nephews and their families.

Dave hired in at General Mills after he graduated from Start High School (76) and worked at the Toledo plant until its closing (26 years). He then worked at the same location when it transferred ownership a few times (2 years) and became Smucker’s(14years).

Dave was a devoted hands-on father. He played an active role in raising his two boys and they were his first priority. They were his life.  He worked endless hours of overtime to provide for them. He was so very proud of both of them and all they have accomplished as adults.

Dave was also a devoted husband. He was a kind, caring, compassionate soul, who was loved and respected by those who knew him. He will be sorely missed by many.  He loved Lynn with all his heart and showed her in many ways every day. When they made the decision to retire early to Florida, 8 years ago, they spent every waking moment together. They made many, many memories and loved each other until the end.

Dave was an avid golfer and hit the links whenever possible. He designated himself the unofficial Block Watch and kept tabs on the neighborhood from his chair by the window, he loved watching everything. He frequently commented about how much he loved their life in Florida, and had no regrets on the decision to relocate there.

It was very important to him to help those in need outside of our community and regularly donated to a local food bank. If you feel moved to honor his memory in some way, please make a donation to your local food bank. He would be honored.

I met Dave through his wife’s quilting group where Dave was a “honorary member “. His kindness and ready assistance was ever present and enjoyed by this group. But I experienced his kindness on a more personal level. My 18 year old grandson lives with me due to the life struggles of both his parents and they not being able to be around, provide a home nor assist him (nor his 3 siblings) in any way. These kids had to grow up fast and hard like many children today and realized early that if they want out need something they had to work for it. Dave had heard about my grandson getting his first new car loan without assistance or co-signed . ( on Facebook I had posted a picture of grandson with his new car and expressed my pride of the hard work and many double shifts that my grandson had performed in order qualify and to save up for a down payment). Dave wife (Lynn)had pulled me aside after one of our quilting meeting and handed me an envelope to be given to my grandson from Dave. She said Dave had been so moved by my grandsons hard work and told Lynn he wanted to give my grandson some gas money. I was so touched and when I gave the envelope to Aydin he was speechless and asked why. I explained Dave’s reasoning that Lynn had told me and though little words were expressed by my grandson I could see the deep impression and a little restoration in manhood/pride. Dave will never know how much that gesture will affect my grandson through out his life. Dave showed there still are rare men in this world who care about showing support for a young man he didn’t personally know and who was just starting out in this world and Dave was surely one of those rare men. That gesture will live on in my grandson and I foresee it being payed forward many times.

Blessed to have had Dave as my uncle. Not sure if I can ever remember a time where he was in a bad mood around us. He always had a smile on his face, willing to lend a helping hand, and thankful for what he had and the people around him.

I'll remember all of the times on the golf course with him, and how he loved being out there whether he was playing well or not.

Uncle Dave always wanted to know what you had going on, and how others were doing, and is a great example of how to live positively each and every day.

    He will be missed.

    Dear Lynn and Family:

Dave was such a wonderful man. He served people with a gentle smile in his warm, loving way. We were so blessed to know Dave while living in Florida. He did so many things for the children in the school where I teach. He was a constant force of love and kindness. When we moved into another house he just came silently and started filling his car with our household items to help us. He made many trips and was a Godsend. He was a really swell guy. We will miss Dave dearly. The world was a better place knowing you Dave.♥️

Dave will be so missed on this earth by anyone fortunate enough to have met him. His kind heart and mild manner were a blessing. He and BC are in heaven’s garage sharing laugh, I’m sure!

I worked at General Mills with Klu. He was always fun to work with. Always smiling and having fun. One of the nicest guys I have ever known. My prayers go out to him and his family. I know he will be greatly missed by all.
