Obituary

Kruse, Doris Dale (known as Dale), 80, of Pinellas Park, FL, passed peacefully in her sleep on May 2, 2024 at Oak Manor Senior Living Facility, Largo, FL. Born May 28, 1943, in Manhattan, NY, Dale was a homemaker most of her life; raising her children in Yonkers, NY, Walkersville, MD and ultimately, Floral City, FL. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother Margaret “Peggy” Fox; father John Garvey; the love of her life for 34 years, John Kruse and her dearest son Michael “Mikey” Kruse. Dale is survived by her sons David Giovagnorio, his wife Kat, and Louis Giovagnorio; daughters Lisa Dieffenthaller, her husband Richard, and Janice Liscinski, her husband Drew; grandchildren Danielle, Aaron, A.J., Richy and Ryan; great-grandchildren Presley, Vinny, Sophia, Avery, Emmett and Charlie. She was a talented knitter and an avid thrift shopper. Later, Dale worked as a cashier at Publix Super Markets. A position and store she cherished until her last days. Dale’s sass and savvy advising customers of coupons and deals had shoppers choosing her checkout line even when it was the longest. In her final years, the Oak Manor family felt much the same. Throughout her life, Dale’s independent, unapologetic nature ensured no opinion was left unexpressed. She lived her life as her favorite heroine Scarlett O’Hara of ‘Gone with the Wind.’ Resilient, proud and with a sensational style that ensured she would always be the belle of the ball. Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Dale will be laid to rest with her beloved husband John at Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, FL. Celebration of Life date to be determined.
