Obituary

Earnest John Oakley  Born June 15, 1947   Died January 2nd 2025.  He was 77 years old

Born on June 15, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA, Earnest John Oakley was the beloved son of Helen Repsis and Earnest H. Oakley. He grew up in a loving family with three sisters, Patricia, Elaine, and Rosemary, who cherished him dearly and shared many wonderful memories together. Earnest and his sister Rosemary were fraternal twins, sharing a unique and special bond throughout their lives. Rosemary later moved to Florida to spend more time with Earnest, further strengthening their close relationship.

Earnest was married to Denise Gealer Oakley, with whom he shared and supported three children Elizabeth, Kathleen, and Michael. His legacy continues through his six grandchildren: George, Teddy, Emma, Ryan, Xander, and Allister, who brought immense joy to his life. He was a proud and loving grandfather

In his professional career, Earnest dedicated 30 years to the Philadelphia Police Department, where he retired as a sergeant. His commitment to public service and his community was unwavering, and he was highly respected by his colleagues and those he served. After retiring from the police department, Earnest continued his dedication to public service by working at the Attorney General’s Office for Pennsylvania as a supervisor for 15 years. His leadership and dedication were instrumental in the success of the office, and he was admired for his integrity and work ethic.

After retiring, Earnest moved to Florida, where he spent his remaining years with his life partner, Carol Wakley, who he loved dearly. Together, they enjoyed a peaceful and fulfilling life, surrounded by friends and family. Earnest was known for his kindness, his sense of duty, and the love he shared with those around him. He was a man of great character, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer support to anyone in need.  Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449.  Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com

Though you may no longer walk beside us, your spirit lives on as big as life, as big as you were. You were always there to give me a compliment, and spark laughter within me. You will be deeply missed Ernie but never forgotten. Thank you for the joy, laughter, and craziness you gave us all. Rest in peace in the arms of the Lord. Never goodbye, just see you later.
