Obituary

Frank H. Warren, age 89, died of Alzheimer’s/Dementia on Monday, August 26, 2024, at his home in Ft. Myers, Florida.

Frank is survived by his wife, Annette, of Ft. Myers, Fl; his daughters, Leslie Scott of Apopka, FL, and Judy Riley of Lexington, SC; and his sons, Frank Warren of Martinez, GA; Troy Warren of Augusta, GA, Steven Warren of Fulton, NY; Matthew Warren of Ft. Myers, FL; and Eric Warren of Naples, FL. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Edenfield of Martinez, GA; his brother, Peter Warren of Augusta, GA, his sister, Jeanne Rooks of Augusta, GA; his father, Francis Warren, of Augusta, GA; and his mother, Jeanette Dumas Warren of Augusta, GA.

Frank was born on September 8, 1934, in Mt. Holly, NJ, to parents Francis and Jeanette Warren. He enlisted in the Army after high school. The Army sent him to Ft. Gordon in Augusta. While there, he was bitten by the racing bug. He began to race professionally in the NASCAR circuit. After racing for almost 20 years, he quit racing and moved to Orlando, Florida. He accepted a job at Disney World, where he worked for 20 years. After retiring from Disney, he moved to Southeast Florida to be close to the beach.

Frank was a great family man and a loving father. Spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren consumed his time. His family and friends will always remember him as a generous man.

Funeral arrangements have not been finalized at this time. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

I cold-called Frank for a freelance assignment for Winston Cup Illustrated in the 1990's when he was working at Disney. Despite not knowing me from Adam, he generously spent a lot of time giving me a great interview about NASCAR 'independent' (non factory supported) drivers and teams racing in the 1960's and 70's. It was extremely entertaining and I had to work like crazy to pick out the best stuff to use for a short, 500-word article. Very nice man. I regret we never had the chance to speak again. Thanks for your warmth and openness Frank. It made my day. I send my sincere condolences to his family and friends. I'm sure he will be missed.

Our friendship with Frank began when he was a tool salesman and he would come by Disney and I bought tools from him. Then one day he showed up as a new mechanic and we became good friends, shared birthdays and lots of fun times together. He helped me rebuild a 460 engine in my truck and nothing stopped it. We've had many fun times with Frank and family. We will miss him always and enjoy sharing fun stories about our time with him. RIP dear friend.
