Dear Frank,
It's hard to believe you're gone. Eighty-one years is a long life, filled with so much, but it still feels too soon for those of us who loved you. I've known you since I was just 15 years old, and from those early days right up until the end, we sure shared a lifetime of laughter and good times together.
My deepest condolences go out to my nephew, Joseph Brandon Orito. You leave behind a fine man in Joe, a testament to you. My thoughts are also with Carol Jean Orito, Joe's mother, during this difficult time. The bond of family endures.
I'll always cherish those incredible adventures with you, my sister, and my husband. The music... oh, the music! Remember the Newport Jazz Festivals, rocking out at the Fillmore East in New York? Those concerts were legendary. And those endless, perfect days on Candlewood Lake in Connecticut – the sun, the water, and always, always the soundtrack of our lives playing in the background. We listened to *so much* good music together, Frank. Those memories are pure gold.
You spoke so proudly of your service to our country in the Navy, especially your time on the mighty USS Hornet. That pride and dedication were a core part of who you were.
The world feels quieter without you, Frank. You will be so very sadly missed – your stories, your presence, your shared love for the beat. But I know the music never truly stops. Wherever you are now, I pray it's filled with the peace you deserve, the power you carried, and the very best music playing on and on.
Rest easy, dear brother-in-law. Thank you for all the memories.
With deep love and remembrance,
Flo

Frank Joseph Orito was born in Brooklyn, New York, Louis Place, near to his mother Millie’s large close knit Panico family; moved to Silver Rd, Ozone Park and then to Howard Beach, Queens, where I met him at a party in 1966. By that time he had already completed his active duty on the USS Hornet and aircraft carrier in the Navy of which Frank happily shared stories of planes landing on the deck and his various responsibilities. I am not sure which Hornet Frank served on but he was very proud of his service. We were married in 1967 and Frank always enjoyed boating and had a boat of his own. In fact for a short while he lived on a houseboat after we separated. 1974 our son Joseph Brandon Bernard was born and in 1978 we separated. Frank remained a very devoted father to our son who was born differently abled. Anything Joe needed Frank was right there for him. In fact, he was helpful to me also so I must say that Frank was extraordinary in that regard. We remained friends, although had a rough moments, but through it all, Frank was always responsible. It will be extra challenging to care for Joe without Frank’s support, his jokes and concern. RIP Sailor.

Frank was one of my favorite managers when I worked for the U.S.Postal Service. He was a great guy to work for and made going to the job a pleasure. We became friends aside from the job. He will surely be missed❤️

Frank was born and proudly raised in Howard Beach, NY. He’s the son of Carmella and Joseph Orito and the brother of Joseph “Babe” Orito. He is the proud father of son Joseph Orito whom he is survived by.
We hope you’re resting in peace now Frank. We’re saddened to hear of your passing but I know it’s been a rough year for you since my mom passed and now you can be together again. You lived a full life and gave our children a Poppy and they made you a grandpa too. RIP always.
