Obituary
Frederick Zuck, 78, of Naples, FL joined Heaven on September 29, 2024. Frederick was a man of strength and honor. Born on September 8, 1946, in Bayonne, New Jersey, the surprise youngest to parents William and Viola (Titanski) Zuck. A child model, altar boy in the Russian Orthodox Church, Eagle Scout, and basketball star, Frederick graduated from Bayonne High School, St. Peter’s University, and began his career as an engineering systems analyst for Maidenform in New York City, traveling between NYC and Puerto Rico. After two years of working at only 22 years old, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the height of the Vietnam War. During his time in battle, he earned a Bronze Star for valiant actions in the face of imminent danger to himself and his men. Upon his discharge, Frederick explained he couldn’t go back to his old life, and that the war had fundamentally changed him. Upon counsel with his Jesuit advisors, he used his GI Bill to receive a Masters in Education with a call in his heart to help others.
Frederick was a masterful teacher and educator. He loved and more importantly respected his students, always wanting the best for them. He was a man of philosophy, wrote beautifully, lived healthy, honored all cultures, and was a voracious learner. His intelligence was profound, but it was his acceptance and understanding of humankind that made him special. He would volunteer to walk kindergartners home in rough neighborhoods, inspired high schoolers to think critically about world affairs and international studies, established the first gifted and talented magnet school within a school in Monmouth County, and always strived to show excellence as a teacher, tennis coach, administrator, and friend across states, times, and generations.
Frederick was unwavering in his prioritization. With his beloved Maureen by his side for 41 years, he was unapologetically family first. He was resolute in his love and commitment to his children, Monica (Andrew) Rosser of Naples, FL, and Alexander Zuck of Wayne, PA. With Dad, it was unequivocal he always had your six. Naturally, he was a magnificent Poppa and Grandpa to Eleanor (9), Alexander George (7), Theodore (5), Oliver (4), and Frederick (3). Nothing made him prouder than his children and his grandchildren.
His wit, grace, gentleman in all sense of the word, profound respect, and steadfast love will be missed by those who knew him. Frederick will receive final honors on November 7, 2024 at 10am at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241. Following, there will be continued fellowship hosted by his children at the Vineyards Country Club in Naples, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Frederick Zuck’s name to the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, an organization important to the family and to Dad.
