Obituary

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Geraldine Bell passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, at the age of 97. Gerry was born to Hildemar and Britta Leafblad on July 16, 1927 in Mason, Wisconsin. She was tenth in the line of eleven siblings . Her parents, both born in Sweden, came to the United States and settled in Mason, WI. Hildemar died at age 50 in 1939. In 1943, Gerry’s mom Britta, Gerry, and siblings Paul and Earl moved to Bayfield , WI to live with older brother Hilding and family. After high school Gerry moved to Waukegan , IL to live with her nephew Bruce Leafblad and his wife June . She later met her husband of 49 years Lyman in Waukegan. Lyman and Gerry were married in 1950 and they had two sons Scott and Stuart.

They moved their family to Orlando, Florida in 1971. Gerry worked at Grace Baptist Church and later at Dade Paper company in customer service for twelve years . Gerry had a beautiful voice and sang in the choir at Grace Baptist church. Gerry was an instant friend to everyone she met. She was an avid sports fan never missing a sporting event for one of her kids or grandkids. Gerry made a positive impact on all of her friends at church, work, or in the neighborhood. She had a strong relationship with her Christ and Savior and prayed daily for all of her family.

Gerry was preceded in death by her husband Lyman. She is survived by her two sons Scott(Lisa) and Stuart(Lea); 6 grandchildren Zachary(Jessica), Holly(Jason), Candy(Tyson), Parker(Lexie), Riley, and Ashley; and 9 great grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The greatest gift she left us was faith, and the example of loving God fiercely, and people deeply. The family is grateful for the love and compassion given to her by her caregivers. She is profoundly missed and is always and forever loved. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
