Obituary
Gregory P. (Ness) Yergens left this world peacefully on July 1, 2022 at the age of 58 with his loving wife and children by his side. Greg fought a valiant 4 year battle with colorectal cancer. He was born in Connecticut in 1963 and is the son of William P. Yergens of Beaufort, SC and the late Patricia (Iliff) Bailey.
Greg loved sports of all kinds but his favorite was baseball and spring training at the Minnesota Twins stadium and watching football with the boys. He also enjoyed traveling, camping with his family, cooking and barbecuing, fishing, boating and any outdoor activities. When his children were younger, he helped coach their baseball teams, and attended soccer games all over the state and other sporting events on their behalf. He had such a passion for life and being involved.
Greg’s personality was larger than life and his smile and laughter were contagious. He generously loved his family and had a large circle of lifetime friends. He loved people and always had a cheerful greeting for anyone he met. He made friends around him feel special and had a great story to share to lighten everyone’s heart. He was a kind soul who welcomed all into his life and shared what he had to offer. Greg’s zest for life will live on in the many lives he touched. His friends would describe him as gregarious, loyal, warm hearted, quick witted and entertaining. He was also a devoted, loving husband and father. His smile will be missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
