Obituary
On 11/28/23 at 11:33 am, James Michael Goodwin passed away peacefully at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, FL, after a brief battle with stage 4 lung cancer. He was 71 years old. Jim was a good man that everyone loved. If you knew him, he touched your heart in some way or another, whether he helped with home projects, told one of his great stories, or just sat as the ever-vigilant neighborhood watch. He was rough around the edges, but the longer you knew him, the softer those edges became.
Jim was born on May 23,1952 in Addison, IL. He joined the Navy at the young age of 17 and served his country with honor. He met his wife in 1984 and settled in Melbourne, FL, later welcoming 2 children, a girl in 1985 and a boy in 1990. They were his absolute pride and joy, and he spoiled them and their mother every chance he got, always on the lookout for that special gift or moment.
Jim is survived by his wife, Kathy Koontz, his 2 children, Angelina (Keith) Cadorette and Zachary (Austin Booth) Goodwin, as well as his sister, Kim White and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He meets his father and mother, James and Florence (Herman) Goodwin, in heaven, as well as his much-loved and missed dog, Candy. We take great comfort in knowing he will be with them always. He will look down on us and protect us like he did when he was here with us, but now from a grand vantage point up above. Gone too soon, WE LOVE AND MISS YOU, Jimmy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
