Obituary
Janet Joyce McClenny, age 83, went peacefully to be with Jesus on January 4, 2026. A woman of deep faith and fierce loyalty, Janet leaves behind a legacy defined by her devotion to her family and her vibrant, joyful spirit.
Born on May 8, 1942, to Charlie and Dorothy McKittrick, Janet’s life was one of movement and purpose. As a devoted military spouse, she traveled extensively alongside her husband, Frank, during his years of service in the United States Air Force. Her resilience and adaptability made her the bedrock of her family through every transition. Janet’s most heartfelt mission was the care of her husband, Frank. Throughout their 50 years of marriage, she was his most dedicated advocate, ensuring his well-being with a tireless and loving hand.
Janet was a pillar of her church community. She cherished her church family and found immense joy in her Sunday School class, where she built deep, lasting friendships. Those who knew her will remember her as a wonderful friend, someone who listened with her heart and walked in her faith daily. When she wasn’t serving others, Janet could often be found in her garden, by the water with a fishing pole, or at the card table. An enthusiastic card player, she was known for her sharp mind and her competitive streak; she played with love, but she always played to win.
Janet is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Frank McClenny; her brother, David McKittrick of Lancaster, OH; and her children: Renee (Rudy) Balaoing of Mt. Plymouth, FL; Crystal (Lyndell) Ryder of Winter Haven, FL; Frank (Edwina) McClenny of Headland, AL; and Farris and Fred McClenny of San Diego, CA. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Eddie McKittrick.
Janet’s memory will be forever treasured by all who were blessed to know her. She will be interred at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, where she will rest in honor.
