Obituary
Jean Mae “Mo-Mo” Johnson, 89, of Venice Florida passed away on October 5, 2023. She was born Jean Mae McAllister on May 24, 1934 to her parents Lewis and Ruth McAllister on a farm in Bridgeton, NJ. In 1952 she married her high school sweetheart Leo F. Johnson. They were married for 38 years, until Leo’s passing in 1990.
Jean, along with Leo, raised 4 children in NJ until moving to Venice in 1970. Together they purchased and ran the Sandbar Beach Resort on Venice Beach. Jean enjoyed a good book and her favorite places to be where the Venice Jetties or any place her children and grands were.
Jean is survived by her children Pam (Sam) Prost, Daria (Pat) Smith, Walt (Debbie) Johnson, Megan (Bradley) Eaves; 7 grandchildren Alison (Darryn) McGowan, Aaron (Jennifer) Prost, Kristin (Adam) Cohen, Danielle (Jonathan) Harn, Cameron (Jill) Smith, Tanner Eaves, Dylan Eaves; 10 Great grandchildren Cooper McGowan, Ivy, Samuel and Matthew Prost, Ava, Marlee and Jack Cohen, Leo, Mabel and Zeb Harn. Her siblings Wayne (Ida) McAllister, Gary (Karen) McAllister, Dianne Lang, Debbie (Salvie) Marino, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Ruth McAllister; husband Leo; and brothers Glendon and Jeffrey McAllister.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life at the Venice Community Center on October 18th from 4pm to 7pm.
