Obituary

  John Alan Katzenberger, born June 17, 1956, completed his earthly journey peacefully with honor, dignity and courage on October 15, 2023 at his home in Port Charlotte Florida with his family at his side. John spent his lifetime serving others and will be greatly missed by so many.
   He started his adult life by attending college at Indiana State University and finished up his education at Barry University in Fort Myers, Florida.
   John first moved to Florida in the late 70’s where he joined the Hollywood Florida Fire Department as a firefighter and paramedic. He later moved to Streator, Illinois where he started American Air Care (an air ambulance service) with his father Ralph H. Katzenberger. After his father passed away in 1985 he moved back to Florida where he was an EMS/Paramedic in Pinellas County and later in Collier County. During his career as an EMS John received 7 Phoenix Awards for life resuscitation. After retiring from his EMS/Paramedic position he moved to Charlotte County where he served as security at the United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda in which he was also an active member. In his free time John was a race car driver, a sports fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Indy car racing and a member of the Punta Gorda Car Club.
   John was proceded in death by his Father Ralph H. Katzenberger, his maternal and paternal grandparents and his brother Mark Katzenberger. He is survived by his Mother Dottie J. Katzenberger, sister Karen (Dave) Boyd, brother Steve Katzenberger, sister Kathy Katzenberger, 6 nieces and nephews and 7 grand nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 at 3:00 PM, at Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society, 1100 El Jobean Road, Suite 104, Port Charlotte, FL 33948.
