Obituary

John Kenneth Schauer, Jr., age 86, of North Fort Myers, passed away on January 2, 2025, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. John was born on August 21, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Elizabeth Schauer.

After proudly serving as a Military Police Officer in the Army, John was honorably discharged in 1968. He briefly attended Northern Michigan University before beginning a career in the brewing industry. John worked for Schlitz, Stroh’s, and Anheuser-Busch, retiring in 2000.

Throughout his life, John enjoyed a variety of activities including bowling, golf, darts, and, most of all, boating. Whether at Pewaukee Lake, Pier 11, or Lake Fairways, John always had a knack for making friends and turning them into family. Not only did his friends enjoy his company all of their pets did too.

John will be fondly remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his love of happy hour. He is survived by his sister, Candi Zurn, his former spouse, Joan Schauer, his two daughters, Renee Morris (Sherman) and Kristen Klas (Brian), as well as his three beloved grandchildren, Cole Teuton, Connor Morris, and Vivian Klas.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. If you would like to celebrate John’s life, please have a drink in his honor.

John’s memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him.

We miss seeing you all around the community. We miss seeing you at the corner table at coffee on Saturday. We miss playing LRC with you. Yes we do miss you a lot and think about you often. We were out of town when you left for the last time. We didn’t get to tell you how much we love you for one last time (but you knew we did). We will see you again some day but until then, watch over us. Love you, John and Linda Grab

There is a very big void in our lives. John visited us every day, and we chatted for hours about everything and nothing. He was like our family, as well as a great friend and an excellent neighbor. He was always there to lend a helping hand. I am happy you girls were here for his last days. That was comforting! RIP John! ♥️

Cul de Sac 25 will never be the same!

John, I will miss you until we meet again. Your passing has left a huge hole in my heart, but I treasure our last visit, as you squeezed my hand as I spoke to you. Every time I thought we were done, you would squeeze my hand again. Thank you for that. I will think of you every time I make soup.
    Dora (My Dear)
