Obituary
John Matthew Kinsella, 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, entered his eternal rest on October 8th, 2024. Preceded in death by his wife Janet Schatz Kinsella, John was a devoted husband and caregiver.
Survived by his daughter Leanne Fogle and husband Frank of Hiddenite, NC, son Greg Kinsella and wife Michele of Nokomis, FL, grandchildren Caitlin and Caroline Kinsella & brother William Kinsella and wife Kathy of Huntington, NY, John will always be remembered for his “proud to be Irish” spirit and smile.
Born in Newburgh, New York, September 5th, 1939, John was the oldest of two brothers. His childhood years were spent in Columbus, Ohio, the son of a distinguished published Mathematician Dr. John Kinsella and Helen Dowd Kinsella. Later after the family relocated to New Jersey, John graduated from Ridgewood High School telling proud stories of his achievement as a long-distance track star.
A 1961 graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in Business Management, John in 1965 went on to earn his MBA in Financial Management from Pace University.
In 1991, after a 30 year career with Fortune 500 companies; Pepsi, Kraft General Foods and Aetna, John, leveraging his business knowledge, joined his wife Jan in the founding of Kinsella & Associates, Inc. where he became the firm’s Broker. For the next 12 years, John and his wife successfully sold and serviced residential real estate in the greater Danbury area ranking in the top 1%.
In line with a servant’s heart, John played an active part in his community as President of the Brookfield Jaycees, Secretary of the Danbury Board of Realtors, Board Director with the Brookfield Lion’s Club, Secretary on the Brookfield Planning Commission and was an active member of the New Milford Rotary Club. His awards and recognitions included: Connecticut Governors Award – Jaycee of The Year; Special Achievement Award – PepsiCo; United States Army Recognition Award – 50th Maintenance Battalion.
Throughout his life, John had a passion for sports and pets. Many say he will be remembered for his bright smile and kind heart. In retirement, he was often sighted driving around Lake Norman with his beloved rescue terrier Annie who he lovingly referred to as Annabelle Wagon Tail.
