Obituary
Joseph “Raymond” Gerard Turmenne, 84, of Eustis, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, surrounded by his wife, their pastor and his wife, and a cherished niece.
Raymond was born in Lewiston, Maine, on November 15, 1940. He was married to Louise Madeline Benedix for over 53 years. He dutifully served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960. Following his military service, he worked at Pratt & Whitney in Hartford, Connecticut, and later at the Orlando Union Rescue Mission in Florida.
Raymond was a deeply committed Christian and accepted the Lord as his Savior in 1974. He was a devoted member of the Orlando Reformed Presbyterian Church where he worshipped for over 45 years. He served as a deacon and made many contributions through his service and dedication to the gospel.
Raymond had a strong appreciation for music and ministry. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing gospel melodies, and found Scripture to be a source of hope and strength. He also appreciated Western movies and serials such as “The Lone Ranger,” and loved Elvis Presley.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Madeline Turmenne; brothers, Richard and Donald Turmenne; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Verna Turmenne, as well as his sisters Jeanette and Joann, and brothers Al and Roger.
A memorial service will be held at Orlando Reformed Presbyterian Church on October 11, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a spaghetti dinner, honoring his personal request. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Orlando Reformed Presbyterian Church at https://orlandorpc.org/giving/, reflecting his lifelong devotion to Christ.
