Obituary
Joseph V. Uricchio Jr., M.D., known affectionately as “Dr. Joe” passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut on November 5, 1933, Joe led a life dedicated to his family, profession, and community.
Dr. Joe was a proud alumnus of Amherst College and Cornell Medical School, after which he served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force at Hunter Air Force Base in Savannah, Georgia. He made significant contributions to the medical field as an Orthopaedic Surgeon, practicing in Orlando, Winter Park, and Maitland, Florida from 1966 to 2019. His passion for medicine and care for his patients were evident throughout his long and distinguished career. Joe also shared his knowledge through his work as a published author.
An avid golfer, Joe participated in many charity events across Central Florida and was a regular at Bay Hill Country Club in Orlando, Lake Nona Country Club, and Sugar Mill Country Club in New Smyrna Beach. His dedication to the sport was matched only by his commitment to his family and his church.
Joe was a dedicated husband, father, and diligent professional, known for his commitment to his church and various medical organizations. He also served on the board at Trinity Preparatory School in Orlando, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Pauli; his children Brad Uricchio (Doreen) of San Diego,CA, Robin Uricchio (Michael Reiss) of Orlando,FL, Scott Uricchio (Diana) of Orlando, FL, and Erin Jefferson (John) of Paisley, FL; his grandchildren, Michael O’Quinn, Read O’Quinn, Stephen Uricchio, Sean Uricchio, Maggie Jo Van Orman (Trevor), Margaux Carr, Matthew Carr and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The 1883 Event Venue, 425 Citrus Avenue, Eustis, FL 32726. Military Funeral Honors will be performed by Active Duty Air Force at 12pm to conclude the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Life Pointe Church in Eustis for their Missions Fund.
Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of compassion, dedication, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
