Obituary
Joseph Costanzo, 94, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025 under the loving care of his long time caregivers, daughter Maryann and her husband John, and staff of Cornerstone Hospice, Emerald Team of The Villages.
Joe was born on July 28, 1931, in The Bronx, NY to the late Raphael G. Costanzo and Mary (Santomassimo) Costanzo.
His sister Roseanne (Krisch) and Brother Ralph preceded him in death.
Joe is survived by his Former wife, Frances L. Costanzo of Rockleigh, NJ.He was preceded in death by his 2nd wife Marie Schwerdt-Costanzo.
Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He moved from The Bronx, NY to Spring Valley, NY in 1966. In his later years, he shared his time between NY and his secondary home at the Jersey Shore, until he moved to the Villages, FL in May 2021.
Joe was employed for many years by the famous Syska Hennessey Group, of Manhattan, NY, as an Electrical Engineer & Designer. Joe worked on buildings such as Lincoln Center, Rockefeller Center, Johnson & Johnson Mansion, etc.
Joe was a member of the American Legion, Boy Scouts of America, National Italian American Foundation, Vincent Linguanti Lodge and many other Italian American Organizations in which he donated much of his time.
Joe enjoyed music, dancing, Frank Sinatra, camping in the Adirondacks with his family, his boat, crabbing and fishing on the Long Island Sound and the New Jersey Shore. He also enjoyed western movies, watching sports and was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees.
Left to cherish his memory are his 4 children: Anthony, Christopher (Mona), Maryann Costabile (John) and Joseph, his sister-in-law Lucille, seven grandchildren: Anthony, Christopher (Lauren), Lauren(preceded), Olivia (Jake), Gregory (Rachel), Vincent, Daniel and three great-grandchildren: Liam, Nora, Lucas and his close loving friend Vickie T. Lenhart, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and their families.
There will be a private celebration of life memorial service held at a later date in The Villages, FL, also in Rockland County, NY. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May his memory live on in the hearts of those he touched.
