Obituary
Judith Ann Nelson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Fort Myers, Florida, on August 27, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on March 1, 1965, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Judith lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family and friends.
Judith, affectionately known as Judy, was the daughter of Jack Willard Purdy and Patricia Mae Sargeant. She grew up in a nurturing household that instilled in her the values of kindness, hard work, and family loyalty. Judy graduated from Cypress Lake High School in Fort Myers, Florida, and continued her education at Edison Community College, where she developed her skills and laid a strong foundation for her future.
On April 30, 1983, in a beautiful ceremony in Sanibel, Florida, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Edward Nelson. Together, they built a life filled with joy and adventure, welcoming two wonderful children into the world, Katherine (Matthew Romary) and Andrew (Coral Mayers). Judy was a dedicated mother, always the rock of the family, balancing the extensive list of kids’ activities with grace and love. Her children were her pride and joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing them throughout their lives.
Judy’s legacy extends beyond her immediate family. She was a cherished grandmother to Millie and Jack Romary, who brought her immense joy. Her love for her grandchildren was evident in the countless stories she shared and the magical moments they created together, often inspired by her deep affection for Disney and her love for cats. Judy had a unique ability to make every gathering special and memorable, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In her professional life, Judy worked as a bookkeeper for South Trail Animal Hospital, where her attention to detail and dedication made her an invaluable member of the team until her retirement in 2025. She approached her work with the same passion and commitment that she brought to her family life.
Judy’s spirit was characterized by her unwavering support and nurturing nature. She was a guiding light for her siblings, including her brother Michael Purdy, and always found time for her extended family, including a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones who will remember her warmth and generosity.
Judith is preceded in death by her father, Jack Willard Purdy, and her beloved sister Susan Boyer, who she mourned deeply. Her departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Judith Ann Nelson will be remembered for her boundless love, her infectious laughter, and her dedication to her family. The world is a better place because she was in it, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. Rest in peace, dear Judy; you will be forever missed.
One of our trips to Gatlinburg for orchestra competition. We had such a good time sightseeing. Must be around 2004-05.
This was one of our trips to Gatlinburg, TN for an orchestra competition. I believe it was during their 8th grade year at Three Oaks Middle (which I believe would be 2004-2005). We had such a good time sightseeing and just hanging around together.
