Obituary

Kay Annette Bagley Reimer, 82, a favorite of both dogs and people, died Dec. 30 in Orlando, Fla.

Kay was born on Nov. 17, 1942, in Wheaton, IL. She spent more than 30 years in Pittsburgh, Pa., where she bred, raised and showed Great Danes. Dogs were her life’s passion.

Kay had a knack for bringing out the best in animals. Right up to her death, she worked regularly at Preppy Pet, a boarding and doggy daycare business in Orlando. “I had to call so many of her clients because she was one of those dog people who everyone loved,” her daughter Meg Treat said.

Kay’s family characterized her as a “stubborn redhead.” “When she got her mind made up, that was that,” her family said.

Kay faced a variety of heath challenges. “She died from conditions that should have killed her years ago. She never let her medical condition dictate how she lived her life,” Meg said.

Besides her daughter Meg Ann Treat (Robert), Kay is survived by her son Charles Daniel III; and three grandchildren, Charles Daniel IV, Nicholas and Christopher.

She is also survived by her friend Dan Gore, owner of Preppy Pet, who was like a son to her.

Kay will be exceptionally missed by her Goldendoodle Sammie.

She requested that there be no memorial services. In lieu of flowers, the family seeks donations in her memory to:

Kay was something special. Her guidance and wisdom was second to none. She had an amazing personality that was matched with her tremendous love for animals. She would often speak fondly about her daughter Meg and her husband Bob, Her son Dan and her love for for her grandkids. I put off writing this as long as I could because it's just so hard for me to believe she's gone. Kay was my closest friend,so much that I considered her a second mother. We had many conversations over the years ranging everything from cooking recipes (she made a amazing yorkshire pudding) to how much she loved her trips to Savannah Ga. I will miss those great talks and hopefully I will see her again someday. Kay I hope you Cappy and Merlot are catching up with each other, and know that I love you and have incredible gratitude for the mark you left on my life and the lives of many others. Danny Gore

Kay was a fantastic lady. I could not have asked for a better mother-in-law. She never let her medical condition dictate her life.
I will always remember her sharp wit, perseverance, directions after I needed to turn…lol and the great fun it was to be with her.
She truly was a second mother to me and I will miss her immensely.
