Larry Whitley was a true southern gentleman ! We both loved the outdoors and fishing because we crossed paths on the ST. Johns River several times. When we saw each other at church he would always ask me about my hunting trips to Texas and how many speckled perch I had caught on the river. We would reminisce about the old days when I was coaching little league and his sons were playing. Larry I’ve known you for a long time buddy and you will surely be missed but never forgotten !

Larry Whitley--known to me as Mr. Whitley was the best male role model in my life. I’ve known Mr. Whitley for 45 years, and words on this page can’t fully express the love I have for him. His care, counsel, and wisdom were unwavering. As a young boy, I learned so much just by observing his behavior in countless situations. He was understanding but always clear and direct. Right and wrong were never blurred with him; his moral compass was steady, and his intentionality shone through--a lesson I now deeply understand.
I remember him always being there: on the couch watching football, on the boat fishing, or at the grill cooking something amazing. I still can’t grill a burger as good as his. Through years of daily guidance, Mr. Whitley became irreplaceable. I’ve been honored and lucky to have him in my life. Larry, may you rest in peace; you’ll forever be known and cherished.
    Love,
    Patrick

I only had the chance to meet Larry a couple of times, but even in that short time, it was clear what kind of man he was — genuine, kind, and devoted to his family. I really wish we could have gone fishing together at least once. He was a great man, and my heart goes out to all of you.
