Obituary

Linda Kay Rein passed away Friday, June 28, 2024. In 1975, Linda, a single mom with two young children, left Mansfield, Ohio, where she had been born.  Sarasota was her destination and she never looked back.  This was her paradise!  She soon was hired by Barbara Ford-Coates, the Sarasota County Tax Collector’s office where she remained for eleven years.  Linda managed the newly opened branch office just south of the Sarasota Square Mall.  Leaving there in 1990, she worked for Lyndell Acura until a friend encouraged her to apply for an opportunity with World Precision Instruments, a company that designs and manufactures medical instruments. Linda ended her career there, loving the fact that she was able to help so many people as the head of the Personnel Department.  In addition to her full time day job, Linda worked for twenty- five years as a tax preparer at H & R Block.

Linda leaves behind her spouse of forty-three years, Vicki Klein, their dog Trixie, her daughter Wendy DiPietro and her son Robert Rein; two step-children Heather Locklear and Bradford Smith, five grandchildren;  Nicole Rein, Samuel Delarosa, Melanie Delarosa,  Makala and Grace Rein; and two nieces, Sondra Sturgis and April Gilbert.

Living in Sarasota for over fifty years, Linda felt she had earned the distinction of being able to call herself a true Floridian. She will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

I have known Linda since high school and she hasn’t been a wonderful person her whole life. Even though we livened far away from each other, I thought of her often. I was blessed to know her. I am saddened to hear of her passing.

I'm so deeply sorry. Linda was a wonderful woman that cared for and loved her family more than anything. Although I only knew her for a short period of her life, she was a joy to be around and talk to. We shared a love for animals and Starbucks. She will truly be missed!
