                                                       Linda M. Wiegert OBITUARY

                                                    April 11, 1945 – August 19, 2025

Linda Margaret Wiegert, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of Christ, was called to her heavenly home on August 19th, at the age of 80.   She was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on April 11, 1945, the daughter of Waldemar and Emma (Hildenbrand) Fiechtner.

From an early age, Linda was nurtured in the Christian faith. She was baptized on May 6, 1945, and later confirmed her faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Monango, North Dakota on May 10, 1959. She attended elementary and high school in Monango, North Dakota. She graduated from high school as valedictorian of her class. Following high school, she attended Concordia College, St. Paul, Minnesota from 1963- 64. She transferred to Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska earning a B.S Degree in Elementary Education in 1966.

In 1963, Linda met the love of her life, Paul Wiegert, while attending Concordia College in St. Paul, MN. After a three-year courtship, they were united in marriage on July 17, 1966, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Monango, ND. This marital union was blessed with four children, Allen Lynn, David Paul, Benjamin Thomas, and Angela Marie. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and ministry.

Paul & Linda served as Christian Day School teachers in Zion Lutheran Church, Independence. Kansas. After the arrival of their first child, Linda became a housewife. While at Zion she served as their church organist.

In l970 Paul accepted a call to St. Paul’s – Immanuel Lutheran School in Whittemore, Iowa as their 5th – 6th grade teacher. While there Linda served as the church organist and choir director as well as teaching music at school,

In 1974 Paul took a call to become a DCE at Zion Lutheran Church, Atlantic, Iowa.  Linda also served as the church organist in Zion congregation, as well.

In 1977 Paul began studying for the pastoral ministry at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis Missouri.  Linda worked at the Concordia Historical Institute  as the Executive Secretary for the Archivist of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

In 1978 Pastor & Linda and Wiegert and family moved back to Iowa to serve the dual parishes, Faith & St. John’s Lutheran Churches in Kiron, and Deloit. During that time Linda was a wonderful partner in encouraging and supporting Rev. Wiegert in his work as pastor.

In 1985 the Wiegert family moved to Amery, Wisconsin where Paul accepted a call to Redeemer Lutheran Church.  Linda continued playing the organ and accompanied the choir. By this time all of the children were in school, so Linda went to work as a secretary and then later as a purchaser for a manufacturing plant in Amery. She worked there for 17 years until all of the children completed college.

In 2006 Paul and Linda retired and moved to Fairfield Glade, TN. They lived in Fairfield Glade for 12 years. During that time Linda continued on the organ bench at Shepherd of the Hills, Lutheran Church.  In 2017 Linda retired after playing the organ for 60 years beginning when she was in the fifth grade. Linda had the privilege of having Dr. Paul Manz professor at Concordia St. Paul and Dr. Ted Beck, professor of Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska as her organ instructors.

In 2018 Paul and Linda moved to Lutheran Haven  in Oviedo, Florida where they enjoyed being part of the Lutheran Haven family.
