Obituary

Matthew Alan Hester was born on August 20, 1954 in Morristown New Jersey. From a young age he became very inquisitive. He loved life and he loved adventures. He and his father would go on canoeing trips in the summer. Matt enjoyed skiing and riding horses whenever he got the opportunity. He also loved dogs and had several as pets over the years. Friends were always important to Matt and he was always the life of the party. He was a great cook and was known to fix Thanksgiving dinner for his friends. As an adult he loved to go garage saling and look for bargains.

He is predeceased by both of his parents, Alan and Lorraine Hester.

He is survived by his two sisters, Susan Hester Young, spouse D. Edward, and their two daughters Elizabeth Miller(and her daughters Ralli and Kathryn) and Rebecca Miller (and her daughter Amarissa) and Ellen Hester Palmer, spouse C. Allen and their two daughters Lindsay Marr, and Sara Palmer (and her daughters Brielle, Cora, and Finleigh) and son Ross Palmer. Matt is also survived by a step-daughter, Robin Snyder.

Matt passed away on November 3 four weeks after having gone to the emergency room where he later learned that he had cancer in his brain, spine and lungs. It was very fitting that Matt went to the hospital right before hurricane Milton hit the area. He was released to go home under hospice care after power was restored. His dear friend Mark Hilker, a friend of 30 years, took wonderful care of Matt during the last month of his life. The last days of his life were spent at the hospice house in Venice.

Matt did not believe in funerals. He also struggled with goodbyes. His wishes were for everyone to gather with others that knew him and have a party.
