Nannette Hazlett Wohlwender, known as Nan, passed away peacefully on December 21st in Winter Park. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Nan was a gifted student at Western Hills High School where she met her beloved husband Thomas Paul Wohlwender. High school sweethearts, Nan and Tom began their 68-year marriage shortly after her graduation in 1955 and they built a life together filled with love, music, and family. Together, Nan and Tom raised two children, Eric Thomas Wohlwender and Jill Nannette (Wohlwender) Hamrick. They moved to Central Florida from Cleveland, Ohio in 1972 where she began her career as a successful real estate agent and broker.
Through her intelligence, work effort and drive, Nan transitioned from her job as a legal secretary to an entrepreneur and prominent, respected figure in real estate, serving as a director of the Seminole County Board of Realtors. She was a pioneer, breaking glass ceilings as the co-founder of Daniel & Wohlwender Realty which she co-managed and grew through its sale in 1996. Her leadership, integrity and dedication to her profession earned her the respect of her peers in the Central Florida real estate community.
Nan truly balanced the demands of business ownership with an unwavering dedication to her family. She was known for her humor, strength of character, her warmth and kindness. She was the family’s rock and foundation through good times and bad. She dearly loved her husband Tom and took immense pride in her role as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, touching the lives of all who knew her.
To her beloved grandchildren, she was “Grammy,” a title she cherished with her whole heart. Grammy brought so much joy and love to their lives, and they adored her beyond measure.
Nan was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph D and Edith L Hazlett, brother Joseph K. Hazlett, her beloved husband Thomas P. Wohlwender, and adored son Eric T. Wohlwender.
Nan is survived by the family that she held so dear. Her daughter Jill (& beloved son in law Jon), her cherished grandchildren Josh (Meggie), James, Jessica, and Jenna, and her two great-grandsons, Jonathan Elijah Hamrick and William Michael Hamrick.
Nan’s legacy of love, strength, and grace will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
