Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Patrick Ruppert on January 12, 2025. Born on April 7, 1941, to Anne and Frank Ruppert in Renton, Washington. He later moved to the Bronx, where he grew up and cultivated the quick wit, charm, and determination that would define his life.
Patrick married his high school sweetheart, Mary, with whom he shared five wonderful children: Susanna Carusone, Patrick Ruppert (Kerry), Margaret Cantu’ (Marcelo), Virginia Bonamarte (Michael), and Katherine Boniello (David). The marriage ended in divorce.
At the time of death he was married to his devoted wife Linda for 30 years. Their shared love of travel, theatre, and dining brought them closer, and they created many beautiful memories together. Pat and Linda retired to Sarasota, FL. They shared a deep compassion for their many cherished cats over the years and their home was always filled with the happy purring of their beloved feline companions, currently Callie and Squeaky.
Patrick was an Army veteran with an extraordinary 50 year career at Citibank, where he was respected for his dedication, professionalism, and integrity.
Outside of work, he was best known for his silliness, famous one-liners, and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone who crossed his path. His warmth, humor, and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Pat’s life was filled with the joy of 12 grandchildren: Juliana, Rio and Elijah Cantu’, Christina, Joseph and Michael Ruppert, Alexandra and Samuel Carusone, Victoria and Rebecca Bonamarte and Isabella and Anna Boniello. Their cherished love brought him immeasurable happiness, and his memory will live on in their hearts.
A private celebration of Patrick’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to The Best Friends Animal Society in Utah or the The Humane Society of Sarasota County, in honor of Pat’s adoration for his furry friends.
Patrick will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Looking back over his lifetime, he was extremely proud of his accomplishments, his family, community and the wonderful circle of caring friendships he established along the way.
“Not bad for a kid from the Bronx”.
We loved when you would pop on and say how nice it was to see our smiling faces!
