Obituary
Priscilla Welch Fisher, 92, died April 20, 2024 of complications from respiratory illness.
She was born Priscilla Maureen Holmes in Claremont, New Hampshire on March 15, 1932 to
Byron and Edith Morgan Holmes.
Priscilla earned her B.Ed. at Keene State college in New Hampshire and M.A. at Teachers
College, Columbia University.
During her career in education she taught in the primary grades and was librarian at Black
River High School in Ludlow, Vermont.
On July 22 1961 Priscilla married Philip N. Welch in Weathersfield, Vermont and together raised
their family in Chester. Following Phil’s death in 1979, Priscilla relocated to Winter Park, Florida
where she continued her love of education by substitute teaching.
Priscilla was a life long reader and gatherer of knowledge. She closely followed national &
international politics and travelled with her second husband Harold Fisher. In recent years she
worked in her front garden, researched family history and closely followed baseball.
Priscilla is survived by her two children Mark H. Welch and Lisa Welch Matthews, a sister, six
grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Priscilla will be laid to rest at a graveside service beside her beloved husband in Chester
Vermont.
