Robert Franklin Hicks (86) passed away January 14, 2025, at his home in Mount Dora, FL. Bob was born March 15, 1938 in Knoxville, TN, the second son of Al and Mildred Hicks. He attended Young High School lettering in Band and Basketball. He went on to earn a degree in Chemistry at the University of Tennessee, where he became the drum major in the Pride of the Southland Band. He also sang in a barbershop quartet, but his favorite passion was hiking the hills of east Tennessee. Bob moved to Florida where he met his wife Marie. After being drafted to the Army and serving in Huntsville, AL, they settled in Orlando. He enjoyed a long career as an Engineer with the Orlando Utilities Commission. Bob is predeceased by Marie, his wife of 63 years and his parents Al and Mildred Hicks. He is survived by his son Tom (Carolyn), grandsons Andrew (Sydney) and Matthew, brothers Bill and Tom and sister Mary Nelle Connelly. A memorial service will be held February 15th at 11:00am at the Garden of Life Chapel at Waterman Village, 445 Waterman Ave Mount Dora, FL. Interment will follow at a later date in Uniontown, PA.
