Obituary
Robert “Bob” Ormsby, age 81, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 21, 2025, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He left this world surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 16, 1944, in Niagara Falls, New York, Bob was the son of Barbara and Linus Ormsby. He proudly served in the United States Air Force before beginning a distinguished 40+ year career with Bell Helicopter, Bell Aerospace, and Textron Marine & Land Systems – all subsidiaries of Textron.
Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Jill; his children, Joseph and Jennifer; and his grandchildren, Heidi, Lukas, James, and Jacob. He is also survived by his siblings, Patricia Sexton, Linus Ormsby, Dennis Ormsby, Kathy Trippi, Barbara (Dale) Halverson, Mary (Norm) Stessing, Theresa (Abbas) Mohaddes, and Patrick (Margie) Ormsby, as well as by his children Mark Ormsby, Marybeth (Steve) Ray, Joseph (Elizabeth) Ormsby, and Jennifer (Rainer) Bendzinski.
In retirement, Bob enjoyed golf, bocce, and swimming, but most of all he enjoyed his family and friends. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 7 at 2:00 pm at the Legacy of Leesburg Social Hall. All who knew and loved Bob are warmly invited to attend.
