Obituary

Robert Onken was born March 29, 1936 in Minonk, Illinois.  

He passed away August 16, 2025 at the age of 89 in Janesville, Wisconsin where they had been living for the past 11 months.

Robert Onken was married to Audrey for 68 wonderful years.

He moved to Rochelle, Illinois where he met Audrey. They went on their very first date when Audrey was 16 and they were together from that point on.

They made many memories throughout their lives, even living in Germany for 7 months, when he was working for Barber Colman Company. He graduated from Rockford College with a degree in finance. He spent most of his working life at Barber Colman Company.

He retired at 61 years old and they traveled for 3 1/2 years in a 5th wheel camper. They moved to Leesburg, Florida and had a new house built for them in a senior community.  Bob loved making his stained glass and golfing in his retirement years.

He’s predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Onken. He’s survived by 2 brothers, Jim and Don Onken and 1 sister, Nancy Legg.

He has 3 children, Robin Johnson (Steve), Kim Lopin (Kerry, deceased) and Brenda Overturf (Leroy).

He has 6 grandchildren, Kyle Lopin (Nat), Chase Johnson (Courtney), Chad Johnson (Danielle), Andrea Aasen -Overturf (Chip),Heather Overturf and Bryant Overturf (Brianna).  There are 9 Great-Grandchildren, Rylan , Vivian , and Rhett Aasen, Jade and Astrid Johnson, Cohen Johnson, Sophia and Felix Lopin and Wyatt Overturf , with an additional Baby Overturf due in October.  

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to St. Croix Hospice and the staff at Cedar Crest for their compassionate care and unwavering support during Bob’s final days. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations go to St. Croix Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association. 

The family will be having a Celebration of Life for him at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449.  Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com
