Obituary
Rodney L. George, residing in Ocala FL, passed away at age 78 on 25 Jul, 2024.
Rod was born in Detroit, Michigan on 8 May, 1946 to Mary and Robert George. His family soon moved to Columbus Ohio where Rod called home. He graduated from Brookhaven High School and entered the Army shortly after graduation on 27 September 1964. He met his wife, Donna, while attending school at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Denver Colorado and they were married on July 11th, 1970.
Rod began his military career as a medic, and after completing his enlistment, began working for several retail businesses. He then worked at Western Electric in Denver as a customer support representative. After this break in military service, he went back in the Army and completed his training as an LPN. Rod volunteered to be an Army Recruiter, and finished his military career of 28 years in the Recruiting Command. He retired as a Master Sergeant in November 1997. Rod was an avid motorcyclist for 52 years where he met many good friends. He has been a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, the American Legion Riders, the president of the Oak Run Motorcycle Club, and currently was a member of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club.
Rod is survived by his wife Donna, sister Rebecca Kemper, sons Todd and Troy George, 5 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Robert George, and his brother Charles George.
Memorial Services for Rod are scheduled for 2:00PM Monday, 19 August 2024 at Joy Lutheran Church. 7045 SW 83rd Place, (SW HWY 200), Ocala, FL 34476
