Scott M. Akins
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother & Friend
May 15th, 1967 – October 2nd, 2025
With deep sorrow and abiding love, we announce the passing of Scott M. Akins, who left this world peacefully on October 2, 2025. Scott was born on May 15th, 1967 in Orlando, Florida to Bob and Kay Akins.
A man of quiet strength and deep devotion, Scott was a beloved husband, a proud father and grandfather, a cherished son, brother, and a loyal friend to many.
Scott shared 25 wonderful years of marriage with his wife and best friend, Tina Akins. Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and family. Scott’s greatest pride was his blended and beautiful family. He was a devoted father to Michael Akins (Tabi Akins), Jaelyn Akins Weiden (Jerry Weiden), Jowel Santo Domingo (Ericca Santo Domingo), Jeremy Santo Domingo, Jered Cunningham (Megan Cunningham), and Jordan Cunningham (Delaney Belinskas).
Scott was a proud grandfather to Henry, Josie, Izabel, Mateja, JJ, Cam, Chase, Miles, Sincere, JJ, Z, Skyler, and Jax, each of whom brought endless joy to his life.
He is also survived by his loving mother, Kay Akins, and mother-in-law, Wanita Walsh; his sister, Kim Lemus; brother-in-laws, Bob Lemus, and Carl Walsh, Jr., niece Ashley Lemus; nephews, Jacob Lemus and Cameron Webber; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will feel his absence deeply.
After working for IBM, Scott transitioned to a new chapter in his career at AdventHealth Orlando, where he quickly became beloved by colleagues and staff alike for his leadership, positivity, kindness, and professionalism. As the Director of Information Technology for Ambulatory, he oversaw the delivery of IT services for more than 400 ambulatory locations across the region.
Scott had a deep love for the outdoors—he found peace and freedom in boating, rock climbing, fishing, hiking, and camping.
He will be remembered for his calm and steady presence, his adventurous spirit, his love for family, and his devotion to a life well lived.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 9th, 2025 at Coronado Community United Methodist Church in New Smyrna Beach, FL from 3:00pm-5:00pm. A celebration of life reception will follow at The Brannon Center from 5:00pm-8:00pm where family and friends are invited to gather and share stories, laughter, and memories of Scott.
Service for Scott will be held at Coronado Community United Methodist Church in New Smyrna Beach, FL on Friday, October 10th, 2025 at 10:00am-11:00am with the burial at Sea Pines Cemetery in Edgewater following the service.
He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered.
