Obituary

Susan W. Hinkle of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025.

She is survived by her husband, Spencer Hinkle; sons, Alex and Andrew Hinkle; and six grandchildren.

Susan was born on October 31, 1947, in Manhattan, New York, to parents Willis and Margaret Watson. She was one of six siblings raised in Glen Cove, Long Island. Susan met Spencer in Saint Croix, Virgin Islands, in 1972, and they were married in Glen Cove, Long Island, on June 8, 1974.

She received her nursing degree in 1976 from Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida, and, with her husband Spencer, moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1978. There, Susan fulfilled her career as a Registered Nurse and retired in 2010.

In 2013, Susan and Spencer retired and moved to St. Pete Beach, Florida, where Susan enjoyed her love of the beach, basking in the sun, and swimming in the Gulf. In 2019, Susan was admitted to Menorah Life Memory Care facility in Saint Petersburg, where she spent her final years.

Beyond a successful professional life, Susan was an incredible mother, grandmother, wife, and friend to all who knew her. She will be sorely missed.

Private life celebrations will be held in St. Petersburg and Portland.
