Susan C. (Barrett) Stier
Susan, originally from St. Cloud, MN, passed away on March 1, 2019, at age 67, at home in Cape Coral, FL, surrounded by family and friends. A visitation, followed by a mass, was held on March 11 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral.
A Happy Hour Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 22, at the Eagles Club in St. Cloud, beginning at 5:00.
Susan was born in St. Cloud to Duane and Teresa Barrett. Susan graduated from Holy Spirit Grade School, Cathedral High School, and St. Cloud State University. Susan met Timothy in 1968, and they married in 1973. The couple moved from St. Cloud in 1978. Over the following 26 years, they lived and worked in Honolulu, HI, New York, NY, Little Rock, AR, southern California (near Los Angeles), and Springfield VA (near Washington, DC). Until her retirement in 2004, Susan worked as an elementary education teacher.
Upon retirement in 2004, Susan and Timothy moved to Cape Coral, and also established a summer residence in St. Cloud. In retirement, Susan enjoyed sailing, camping, and music with family and friends, as well as cooking, gardening, and volunteer activities.
She is survived by her husband Timothy Stier; mother Teresa Barrett; sisters, Barbara Nieland (Thomas) & Mary Jo Polfliet (Donald); brothers Eugene Barrett (Rita) & Richard Barrett; one niece, nephews, & grand nephews, including godchild Nicholas Nieland.
Susan was preceded in death by her father, Duane Barrett.
A special thank you to all those who gave their care and support to Susan during the final weeks of her battle with cancer, including the Cape Coral Hospital and Hope (Hospice) Health Care, and especially her sister Barbara and close friends Jude, Lenore, Sharon, Jane, & Rodger.
Memorials are preferred to the Edison Sailing Center (a youth sailing organization) in Fort Myers, Florida.

You already know how sad Robert and I are about Susan's passing. I take comfort that she is no longer in pain and has earned her angel wings. We will one day see her again.
