Obituary

Sylvia Sedita Bender gracefully closed her eyes on earth and opened them in Heaven to spend eternity with Jesus on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Welcoming her is her Husband Terry, her much loved parents Isadore and Ruby Thomas Sedita, grandparents and precious friends, family.

Sylvia came into the world on September 19, 1938. Born and raised in Orlando, she was graduated from Edgewater High School in a much kinder and gentler time and saw many changes in her 86 years. She married her husband Terry on Valentines Day 1957 at Fort Devins in Massachusetts and he immediately was deployed to Germany where he served for 2 years in the army. When her children grew up she became an LPN and worked locally at Dr. Jack Facundus’s pediatric office for 14 years. She loved her family and Church which she attended since age 14 (Jesus was very fond of her).

She was an animal lover who usually had a rescued dog sharing her home and her passion, in later years, was helping many other dogs and cats find furever homes. Shelties were her very favorite and she rescued several. She also volunteered for many years at Back to Nature Wildlife Rescue and for Ann Young – The “Bird Lady” of Altamonte Springs, who was her heroine. “Can’t wait to see her in Heaven”.

Left behind but joining her later:

Son, Mark (Dee Dee), Daughter- Julie Alvini (Gerry) Precious Grandchildren – Clayton , Carly (Cole), Sister-Frances Demeza (Paul), Cousins- Jeanne Kropf, Reggie Sedita.

Service to be held at All Saints Episcopal Church Winter Park on Tuesday October 29, 2024 at 3:00 pm. Arrangements through Baldwin Brothers Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mid Florida Sheltie Rescue (or any animal rescue), Second Harvest food bank or Pet Alliance.

“I’ve had a wonderful very blessed, long life and I am beyond grateful to God. You can honor my memory, not with flowers but by helping a homeless animal or person and by letting Jesus into your heart if He’s not already there.” -Sylvia

Sylvia was a bright light in this world. I am proud to say she was my friend and I miss her dearly. We had a few things in common… we loved Jesus, we loved animals, and we loved the FL Gators! I am so deeply sorry for your loss. This is a big one, but I also know without a doubt she is free, and with Jesus. God bless you! Dana Murray

In loving memory of Sylvia, a friend whose warmth and light touched so many. With a heart that embraced everyone—friends, family, and animals alike—she brought people together with her laughter, compassion, and unwavering strength. Sylvia’s kindness knew no bounds; she gave of herself selflessly, always there with a helping hand or a comforting word. Her deep faith and open spirit were a guiding force in her life, inspiring all who knew her. Sylvia was a true friend, a beloved soul who will be dearly missed, but whose love and legacy live on in the hearts of many. I’ll miss you terribly, my dear friend, but your strength, humor and love will live on through all who knew you.

    Illumination
    September 19, 1938

THE CHRIST LIGHT SHINING WITHIN ME ILLUMINES MY MIND, QUICKENS MY FAITH, AND GUIDES ME IN PATHS OF PEACE AND HAPPINESS.
For thou wilt light my lamp: Jehovah my God will lighten my darkness. PSALMS 18:28.
LIGHT floods your consciousness when you realize that the Christ light ever shines within to give new understanding, inspiration, and wisdom. No darkness, ignorance, or doubt can withstand the clear shining of the Christ light. Live in the light. Let go of all fear, anxiety, and discord. Let Christ inspire you to greater achievement, higher ideals, clearer understanding, and a firmer faith in God. Does the confusion in the world disturb you? Have you problems that seem hard to solve? Are inharmonious conditions being manifested in your world? Let the radiance of the Christ shine from within to dispel all negation, bring peace to your mind, and show you the way to conduct your life and affairs. Catch a new vision of the world and your place in the scheme of things.

We miss you but know exactly where you are, just like you always said ! I love you Mama Syl, Thank you for loving me

What a sweet picture of her. She was our final connection to that generation and I miss them all. Even if we didn't see them everyday I miss their essence. She loved flowers, dogs, birds and people (all the good stuff), just like Jesus taught her. We were so blessed to call her family and I love and miss her See you on the other side Sylvia ➕ Love, Dino
