Obituary
Thomas (Roger) Battle, Jr., age 83, of Trafford, Pennsylvania, resided in Tampa, FL, since 1980.
Roger was born on January 11, 1942, to his loving parents, Nellie Cashdollar Battle and Thomas Roger Battle, Sr. He graduated from Penn State University in 1963 and was a proud member of the Penn State Blue Band for four years. Roger began a 30-year career with IBM, earning recognition from NASA for his contributions to the Apollo Missions, including the moon landing, as well as many other notable projects.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Vickie, and his children: Aundra, Ryan (Kim), Lee, Lindsey, and Tiffany (Jarib). Roger also leaves behind five grandchildren-Mia, Lexi, Jaden, Brody, and Vela-and his dear friend, Jim Nadar.
Roger will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his love of family, his passion for playing cards, his zeal for football (Go Steelers and Nittany Lions!), baseball, hockey, music, word searches, and his sweet tooth-especially for cookies.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 28, 2025, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 6100 Memorial Highway, Tampa, FL. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be served after the service.
