Obituary: Timothy Leslie Tanner

March 18, 1957 – July 24, 2025

Timothy Leslie Tanner, 68, of Orlando, Florida, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on July 24, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted son, husband, proud father, loving brother, cherished grandfather, uncle, great-grandfather, large extended family and loyal friend, Tim lived a life grounded in service, love, and quiet strength.

Born on March 18, 1957, in Toledo, Ohio, Tim served his country with honor in the United States Army for 18 years as an engineer. After earning his degree from The Ohio State University, he went on to dedicate over 23 years to Second Mile Education, where he made a lasting impact as the Director of Instructional Technology.

A man of deep character and quiet humor, Tim found joy in simple things—cheering on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, going on cruises with his wife & family, taking long walks with his loyal dog Siler, diving into a good book, and most of all, spending time with his children and grandchildren. Known affectionately as “Papa,” he cherished his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather and poured his heart into the lives of those around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his children Jennifer, Rachel, Rhiannon (Thomas), Jesse (Jessica), Jason (Courtney), and Daniel (Erica); his grandchildren Justine, Kaley, Aiden, Jayden, Juliana, Riley, Jacob, and Lizzy, his great-grandchildren Denise, Denail, and Alex. Sisters Deb and Besty. Brothers Dennis (Fran), Hyman, and Wesley. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Judith Tanner; his sister, Nancy; and his brother, Danny.

A celebration of life will be announced in the near future in Orlando, Florida. The family invites all who knew and loved Tim to join them in honoring his memory.

Many of his coworkers and friends have been asking where they could donate funds to help ease the financial burden this last year has been, so his children have opened a gofundme page that will be shared on Facebook

Celebration of Life Service for Timothy will be held on August 17, 2025 from 1-4pm. Lunch will be served at 2pm. Location :Fairways Country Club, 14205 East Colonial Drive, Orlando, Fl.  32826.

Tim and I worked for CEP back in the day, and I always enjoyed his company, even though our contact was minimal, Tim working with instruction and me in the construction phase. But, we were both from Ohio and huge Ohio State Buckeye fans. I am so glad he got to see them win the NCAA championship last year. My condolences to his family members and friends.

From the moment I entered your family, you welcomed me not just with open arms, but with an open heart. You made me feel like one of your own — not out of obligation, but out of genuine warmth and love. That kindness meant more than words can express.

You weren’t just a wonderful father-in-law — you were “Grandpa,” a title you held with pride and deep affection. My children were so lucky to have you in their lives. They’ll remember your gentle presence, your laughter, the way your eyes lit up when they walked into the room. The stories you shared, the love you gave so freely — those memories will live on in them.

You were a man of quiet strength, steady wisdom, and deep love for your family. You led by example, with humility and grace. I will always carry with me the lessons you taught — not just in words, but in the way you lived your life.

Your legacy is rooted in love — the kind that shaped your family, inspired those around you, and made everyone feel safe and seen. Though you are no longer with us in body, your spirit lives on in our hearts, our stories, and in the smiles of your grandchildren.

Your presence is deeply missed, but your love continues to guide and comfort us. I’m honored to have known you, grateful to have been part of your family, and forever blessed by your memory.
