Walter Donald Albert Auer, Jr., of North Fort Myers, passed away Oct 7, 2023, at home quietly and peacefully.

Walter “Sam” was born in St Johns, Michigan, to Walter Auer, Sr., and Dorothy J. Jolly on January 25, 1956.

Walter went to school in Mason, Michigan, and graduated in June 1974. Walter spent many years in scouts, given an Engle scout award in 1972. He was active in Baptist Church of Mason and Victory Baptist in North Fort Myers. Walter worked for the State of Michigan as an accountant and corrections officer and served in the Army and was awarded an honorable discharge in 1975. He received awards for sports director at Living Word Ministry of North Fort Myers.

Walter was preceded in death by his father, Walter Auer Sr.; two sisters, Mary Michaels of Texas and Dawn Harris of North Fort Myers;

Surviving are his mother, Dorothy Auer White of North Fort Myers; sister Tracy Fransen and family of North Fort Myers; son Nicholas Auer of Lansing, Michigan; daughter, Katina Auer of North Fort Myers; grandchildren, Mazzy Bordenhamer, Celesta Kelly, Christopher Kelly, Chole Kelly, and Cherish Kelly; and great-granddaughter, Airi.

Special wishes to his extended family, Maggie Rodriguez and family of Port Charlotte.

A celebration of life will be held at 7628 Bogart Dr., North Fort Myers, FL 33917 on November 11, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.
