Obituary

William Joseph Tschantz, 82, of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025. He was born on October 3, 1943, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Harold and Martha R. Tschantz and his brother Richard.

Bill, as he was fondly known, was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University and a lifelong Buckeye fan. During his time at Ohio State, he served as the team manager for the 1965 National Championship basketball team, an experience that remained one of his proudest memories. He was also a member of Delta Sigma Phi social fraternity.

After graduation, Bill honorably served his country with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he was stationed in France and Germany. His service instilled in him a strong sense of discipline, loyalty, and dedication that he carried throughout his life.

A devoted husband, father, and friend, Bill is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Tschantz; his sons, William Tschantz (Mei) and their son Aidric, and Jeffery Tschantz and his son Spencer; his stepdaughter, Krista Kolich, and her children Grace, Ethan, Avery, and Lilly; and his sister, Carol Holec.

Bill was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing golf with friends, exploring new places, and taking walks with his beloved dog, Andy. He especially loved traveling, with some of his favorite destinations being Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Costa Rica, and the Galápagos Islands. Always ready to lend a helping hand, Bill looked out for his neighbors and friends whenever they needed it. His caring spirit and dependability extended into his house watch business, where he watched over the homes of others in The Villages with the same care and integrity he brought to all he did.

He was an active member of North Lake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake, where his faith and generosity were a blessing to those who knew him.

Bill will be remembered for his kindness, steady humor, love of family, and his unwavering Buckeye pride.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s memory to North Lake Presbyterian Church or to Cornerstone Hospice.

I've volunteered with Bill many years on North Lake's usher team. He was someone I could always count on, and he and Patti were such a blessing to the team. They were always smiling and grateful for their blessings even with all the recent struggles. Bill will be greatly missed by so many, and I'll carry many fond memories in my heart. Rest in peace, dear friend.
