Obituary
Wilma Jean Wiesenmiller (Lyons), 76, went to Heaven in Jesus’ arms on January 5, 2019. Wilma Jean was born to William and Emily Lyons on November 9, 1942 in Noxen, PA. She was a 1960 graduate of Lake Leman High School. A highly creative and artistic person, who played French Horn and was a pianist. She loved classical music, Wilma Jean was also known for her incredible sense of humor. She saw humor in everything and was a true comedienne at heart. Her ability to spin incredible tales from everyday events made her a favorite storyteller amongst her friends and family. One of Wilma Jean’s other favorite past-times was that she enjoyed hosting grand dinners for guests in a formal and traditional fashion.
Jean and Dewayne met in Endicott, N.Y. the spring of 1961 and it was true love from that moment on. September 2, 1961, Wilma Jean married Willis Dewayne Wiesenmiller at Noxen United Methodist Church, a devoted union lasting well over 57 years. Her first job was at the Endicott Johnson Company before becoming a homemaker to raise her children. She was a Sunday School Teacher at Whitney Point United Methodist for many years. When her children were in elementary school, she became a volunteer teacher’s assistant in the Whitney Point N.Y. School System. Returning to the work place as a mobile home sales person during her children’s high school years. She and Dewayne moved and traveled extensively, relocating to such places as Lantana, FL, and all the way back up to Clayton, NC, where she continued her sales career, this time working as Store Manager for an Oneida Silver Store. A hard-working and highly adaptable lady, it was not too long after that before Wilma Jean found herself working as the Office Manager for Dewayne’s consulting service. They retired in 2005 and moved to the Leesburg, Florida area, living in nearby Grand Island.
Wilma Jean was a 43-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She became heavily involved with the Florida Masonic High Twelve Clubs, known as First Lady during her husband’s tenure as State President. Wilma Jean was also a member of the Whitney Point Braille Club, where she and the other members designed a children’s book for the blind, one filled to the brim with touch-sensory delights like buttons, latches, zippers and other fastenings. One would be very hard-pressed to ever find a more talented or dedicated partner, mother, friend or co-worker than she. You could not find someone so deeply loved and adored by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Wilma Jean is predeceased by her parents, William Joseph Lyons and Emily Mary Lyons (Casterline); by an infant child, Rebbeca Jean; and by a younger sister, Dorothea Mae.
